New District Lead for Strathcalder Appointed

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Craig McIntyre as the new District Lead Volunteer for Strathcalder.

Craig said;

“I got involved in Scouting when my wife would sign up to help on the parent rota regularly when my son was in Beavers. She did so in full knowledge that it would be me dropping him of rather than her! From there I joined Cubs as Assistant Cub Scout Leader and quickly found myself running the section. I have experience worked with all our sections, from Squirrels through to Explorers, having supported them at various times.

I’ve held various roles throughout my time in Scouts, including Group Scout Leader / Group Lead Volunteer and roles with Strathcalder and Clyde supporting new volunteers on joining Scouts and through their learning journeys.

In my ‘spare time’ I am a teacher, teaching Physics. I enjoy the outdoors, particularly walking with our dogs, and a bit of archery when I can fit it in.

I’m looking forward to supporting volunteers in Strathcalder to ensure continue to offer amazing experiences to all the young people in our sections.”

For a transition period, Craig will be sharing the role with Gary Ward, the current District Lead Volunteer for Strathcalder.

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to Gary for all that he has done in developing the District, its Groups and Teams.
