Celebrating 100 Years of Auchengillan with launch of new high ropes course
4th July 2025

This summer, Clyde Scouts is proud to mark an incredible milestone: 100 years of outdoor adventure at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre.
Since 1926, Auchengillan has welcomed over 250,000 young people to experience the outdoors, build confidence, and learn skills for life. From small first camps to bold international jamborees, the centre has played a vital role in the lives of generations of Scouts, schools, and youth groups from across the Clyde region and beyond.
A New Chapter Begins
To mark our centenary year, we’ve launched a bold new vision for Auchengillan, one that builds on our legacy while investing in the next 100 years and looking ahead to all that’s to come for the thousands of young people who will visit each year. At the heart of this vision is a new high ropes course, designed to challenge, inspire and support young people of all abilities to reach new heights, literally and metaphorically.
The high ropes course will be officially opened on Wednesday 6 August, during our largest-ever Jamboree, with over 1,200 young people on site. The launch is part of an invitation-only centenary celebration event, bringing together supporters, partners and volunteers to recognise this incredible milestone and swing into our next century of adventure.
Why It Matters
Outdoor adventure isn’t just about fun, it’s about helping young people challenge themselves safely, and to grow. At Auchengillan, young people:
- Build resilience and confidence
- Try new things in a safe, supported environment
- Learn skills for life
- Form friendships that last a lifetime
- Discover their strengths and surprise themselves
The new high ropes course is more than a physical structure. It’s a symbol of the ambition, bravery and potential we see in every young person who comes through our gates. The high ropes course was made possible thanks to our funders and supporters including the Hugh Fraser Foundation to whom we are incredibly grateful.
