Scrambling & Steep Ground Workshop

Venue: Glencoe (or Northern Cairngorms, depending on attendees)

Trainer: Davy Virdee MIC

Cost: TBD Own transport required.

This workshop is open to all adults who wish to develop their personal mountaineering skills and revise their Terrain 2/Mountain Leader rope work.

It would be particularly beneficial Terrain 2 permit holders/Mountain Leaders and Terrain 2 assessors or people who aspire to becoming assessors.

It is not a training course to allow leaders to take people scrambling.

The day will cover:

  • Moving over Grade 1 to 2 type scrambling ground - the grey area of T2 and ML. What is appropriate and what is not?
  • Personal scrambling skills and appropriate rope techniques.

Pre-requisites:

Open to all adults who are active mountain goers, but experience of scrambling a good idea as participants will be taken onto Grade 1 to 2 scrambling terrain/ Easy rock climbs

Equipment needs:

A climbing helmet and harness if you have one.

Usual clothing requirements for a day's hillwalking in the Scottish mountains - a full kit list will be provided.
