Scrambling & Steep Ground Workshop
18th June 2011
Venue: Glencoe (or Northern Cairngorms, depending on attendees)
Trainer: Davy Virdee MIC
Cost: TBD Own transport required.
This workshop is open to all adults who wish to develop their personal mountaineering skills and revise their Terrain 2/Mountain Leader rope work.
It would be particularly beneficial Terrain 2 permit holders/Mountain Leaders and Terrain 2 assessors or people who aspire to becoming assessors.
It is not a training course to allow leaders to take people scrambling.
The day will cover:
- Moving over Grade 1 to 2 type scrambling ground - the grey area of T2 and ML. What is appropriate and what is not?
- Personal scrambling skills and appropriate rope techniques.
Open to all adults who are active mountain goers, but experience of scrambling a good idea as participants will be taken onto Grade 1 to 2 scrambling terrain/ Easy rock climbs
A climbing helmet and harness if you have one.
Usual clothing requirements for a day's hillwalking in the Scottish mountains - a full kit list will be provided.
