Planning for Pinkston Paddlesports Centre *updated*
26th November 2013, 19:00 - 21:30
Location: Blythswood Room, Renfield St. Stephen's Church Centre, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4HZ
As many of you are aware we sent out a survey to gauge your opinions on us establishing a secure storage facility on-site that would give groups visiting the centre access to a fleet of boats and associated safety equipment.
We hope to provide groups with access to qualified and experienced Scout leaders who will be able to assist with the running of sessions for groups throughout the year. Allowing groups who do not have qualified leaders or expensive equipment access to adventurous activities like kayaking and canoeing for an affordable cost and in a location with excellent transport links.
The feedback from the survey was great and everyone was very enthusiastic about the project. As such we have gone ahead to get a container on the site and are in the process of applying for grants to fill it with kit. As we mentioned before the site will be charging minimal costs to cover changing facilities, showers and launch fees. Although these have not finalised we anticipate an indicative cost of around £5 per session per head.
As we are now established we are wanting to hold an open meeting for those interested in being involved both as participating groups and also and more importantly people who would be interested in being permit holders for the site and also prepared to help out across the Region with offering support to others.
We will hopefully have along on the night a member of the site organization to talk us through the facilities and hopefully some photos of the site in its current state before its fully opened in the Spring – we will have some access over the winter for adult/explorer training.
If you are wanting to find out more information then please come along to the meeting, further information will be coming after the meeting.
So that we can book a suitable sized venue please RSVP to Stuart Hunter.
