23rd September 2012
Location: Lapwing Lodge Outdoor Centre; Gleniffer Road, Paisley, Renfewshire, PA2 8UL
Cost: £5 to cover the administration and fees for use of water, if equipment is needing to be hired there will be a further nominal charge - please contact Stuart Hunter prior to the event with a list of items required.
Equipment Required: Where possible please bring your own equipment, however in certain circumstances we will be able to find use of equipment where possible so please do not let this deter you from attending.
Please bring with you on the day originals of any qualifications and an up to date logbook for paddle sport.
Outline: The day will be split into 2 half with options for assessments in both kayaks and canoes along with optional learning being provided. Depending on the numbers we will look at running the sessions in two groups with one set being assessed in the am and the others in the afternoon with the learning sessions being provided in both morning and afternoon. Each session will last for about 2 hours.
The assessments will be run by Scout Authorised Assessors or BCU/SCA Coaches with relevant coach qualifications to make recommendations.
Learning sessions will once again be run by relevant people with experience of the topics being covered, the anticipation that the sessions will last for about an hour giving time to complete more than one if desired.
The anticipation will be that these sessions will be as hands on as possible given the activity.
A formal debrief with any relevant paperwork signed will be given to each participant with feedback and options for support if this is required.
