Winter Skills Walk: Cairngorms
6th February 2010
Details of the next walk being organised by the Clyde Region Hillwalking Group are as follows:
When: Saturday 6th February 2010
Meet: 7am Kelvinhall Car Park, Dumbarton Road, Glasgow and the approximate return will be at 9pm. Transport will be provided.
Open to: Scouts, Explorers, Networkers and Leaders
Walk: Winter skills, Cairngorm (Depending on weather conditions another location may be substituted on the day)
Gear needed: waterproof jacket and trousers, lots of layers of warm clothing (upper and lower body), hat, scarf, gloves (and spare of all these clothes for use on the hill) and enough food (packed lunch and munchies) and water for the day (NOT fizzy juice). We would strongly recommend boots and crampons with thick, padded, warm socks. All equipment should be carried in an appropriate rucsac (one per person) and should be kept in polybags to keep it dry. Separate spare clothes and shoes for going home in should be brought and can be left in the minibus. (Maps and compass are not required for this walk).
Boots and crampons can be hired from Tiso, Nevissport or other outdoor shops and early booking is recommended.
More information & contact on the day: Jim Elliott (Walk Leader) tel: 07814 137 046 or email: email@example.com
BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL FOR THIS WALK AS PLACES ARE LIMITED. Please send a refundable £10 deposit; cheque payable to Clyde Regional Scout Council, by Friday 29 January to Jim Elliott, 7 Morriston Crescent, Renfrew PA4 0XW. This deposit will be returned to all participants who attend, but those not attending will forfeit their deposit as they will have deprived another person of the place.
