In June/July 2017, Clyde Region are planning an Explorer Belt expedition to Europe.

This page gives details of the plans and other important info for you to read before you apply.


All applicants will be required to attend a selection weekend at Auchengillan during the weekend of 4th/6th September 2015.

Training weekends

To ensure that you are adequately prepared, you must attend all training weekends which will be as follows:

March 2016 - Auchengillan

September 2016 - Meggernie

March 2017 - Fordell Firs


The expedition will depart from Glasgow on 29th June 2017 and will return to Glasgow on 22nd July 2017.

  • 29/06/2017 - Depart from Glasgow and travel to Blundenz, Austria.
  • 30/06/2017 - Set up base camp.
  • 02/07/2017 - 11/07/2017 - Explorer Belt teams out on expedition.
  • 12/07/2017 - debrief and relaxation time.
  • 13/07/2017 - Europa Park, Germany.
  • 13/07/2017 - 17/07/2017 - Kandersteg International Scout Centre.
  • 19/07/2017 - EuroDisney.
  • 20/07/2017 - Walt Disney.
  • 21/07/2017 - Depart for UK.
  • 22/07/2017 - arrive back in Glasgow.

There will be a reunion event in March 2018.

For those who wish to only undertake their Explorer Belt and not go to Kandersteg or the theme parks this will be possible.

It might also be possible for some Explorers/Networkers to join the activities after the expedition and go to Kandersteg.


The total cost of attending has been set at 1,850.

A deposit of 250 will require to be paid by 15th October 2015.

Thereafter every participant will require to pay a monthly standing order of 100 from January 2016 until April 2017.
