This summer, Glasgow plays host to the 2018 European Championships and we have an opportunity for Scouting in Clyde Region to become involved.

We've been asked to provide 3 teams of Explorer Scouts and members of Scout Network to be part of the Flags and Medal Ceremonies team.
The roles of Flag Leader and Flag Assistant can be filled by adult leaders or members of Scout Network. The role of Flag Team - Flag Bearer can only be filled by a member of an Explorer Scout or Scout Network Unit.
There are 3 roles:
The Flag Leader will prepare the correct national flags for the Medal Ceremony, according
to protocol guidelines. Also, the Flag Leader will coordinate the Medal Ceremonies Flag
Team to ensure that their group is fully prepared to go out in front of cameras and
spectators in order to correctly raise the flags which will represent and acknowledge the
home nations of the winnings athletes.
The Flag Assistant will work closely with the Flag Leader to assist in preparing the correct
national flags for the Medal Ceremony, according to protocol guidelines. Also, the Flag
Assistant will be responsible to prepare flags during back-to-back ceremonies, to handover
to the Flag Team efficiently during the turnaround period.
The Flag Assistant will be expected to, as well assisting the Flag Team Leader, accompany
the procession on to the field of play, and provide cues and instructions to the Flag Team.
The Flag Assistant will also be a stand-in for members of the Flag Team should a
replacement be needed or in the case of tied medal placements.

- The Medal Flag team will carry and raise the flags of nations of the wining athletes, at the
Medal Ceremonies according to the protocol guidelines.
You'll be provided with a day of training and support before you undertake any of these duties and will be fully supported by the Medal Ceremonies Manager.
We need to recruit for 3 Flag Team Leaders, 2 Flag Team Assistants and 18 Flag Team members.
