VE 75 People's Parade

8th May 2020, 12:00 - 18:00

We have been invited to join a People's Parade to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in Glasgow on 8 May 2020. With the kind support of the Lord Provost of Glasgow, the Military Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Pipes and Drums stationed in Scotland we will join with a large number of other organisations to march from Glasgow Green to George Square to mark VE 75 as part of a nationwide celebration.

'People Make Glasgow' and so the organisers are asking a number of youth groups, societies and associations to join the parade and they hope to evoke a feeling of hope for the future that is as relevant today as it was in 1945.

Each contingent will be led by either a Pipes and Drums or a Military Band and we are welcome to bring our own band, instruments and banners.

The People's Parade, will assemble on Glasgow Green from midday. There will be activities for all ages, including flying demonstrations by the Armed Forces' latest helicopters.

A spectacular Gun Salute by a troop of 105mm Light Guns will start the Parade in time to be at George Square for the main celebration at 3pm, which will be followed by a concert and party.
